Tribute to The Zone

Testimonials

L.T. - November 1, 1998
After being turned down for a low risk life insurance policy because of
elevated something in his blood, my husband's doctor (who is an osteopath) told him to buy
Mastering the Zone, read it and do what it says.

I am one of those lucky people who can pretty much eat anything I want and not gain weight. I have always been a health conscious person. I made my own whole wheat bread from wheat I ground myself, ate LOTS of it.

Sometimes that is what I would eat all day until dinner. I would try to use as little meat as possible in my cooking, and used lots of rice and pasta, whole grain when I could get my family to eat it, which was never. Took lots of vitamins and herbs. I was always tired though. I could not read a story to my children,or watch a movie or go for a ride with the family, or have a conversation with my mother in law without falling asleep.

I told my husband I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome, he said I needed to go to bed earlier.

Well, we are six weeks into the Zone now. My husband has lost 17 pounds, and is back into his size 34 pants. As for me, I have more energy than I have had in years. It is so exciting, and I want to tell anyone who will listen.

I AM NOT TIRED ANYMORE and it is so simple! I still have a hard
time with the mother-in-law conversations but other than that, I feel
great!

Giving up the homemade whole wheat bread toasted with butter and homemade blackberry jam was the hardest thing. But a week or so ago I was in a hurry at lunch, having spent too much time on the internet, so I just grabbed a slice, and had some ice cream at work, and within a couple of hours, the brain clouds were back. I was driving my daughter to the mall, and feeling drowsy, and when we arrived I told her I had to take a little nap before I could go shopping. I never want to feel that way again. I am in this for life.

As for my husband, I know he would rather eat mashed potatoes and pasta and rolls instead of mountains of broccoli and cauliflower, and green salads (remember, I am still a rookie. We are pretty much living on chicken breasts, vegetables and almonds right now. Oh yeah, and oatmeal!) but he says it is worth it. He has a strong family history of diabetes and heart disease, and if the Zone can keep him healthy, I guess he is in it for life too.
