Feel free to use my name and e-mail address. I would love to convert others.
Since entering the Zone I have become a real advocate. Almost since the first day I felt a new energy that I had not had since I was in college.
I am now 48 and determined to be at peak health by my 50th birthday. I am way ahead of schedule thanks to the Zone.
I started July 4th weekend and have since lost 30 lbs. and 5 pants sizes!!!! (It's a good thing I saved all those old clothes.) At first, I was moving into a new size almost every other week. Now it is taking about 4-5 weeks. That's okay with me though because the transformation is miraculous.
People are also telling me that my skin looks younger. What's so great is the double-take old friends and co-workers do when they see me now. They ask me how much weight I want to lose. I tell them it is not about weight, but rather size. I have a specific dress/pants size in mind.
Staying in the Zone has been very easy. The incredible energy level is almost like a drug. The two times I moved out of the Zone (I tried sipping Coke and wine before my meal came) I had such a headache and felt so awful that I have not been tempted to do it again.
I have come up with creative ways to handle what others would consider temptation, especially since I travel considerably on my job and have to eat out a lot. Breakfast at home is usually an Eggbeater omelet cooked in butter. Most restaurants will prepare any omelet on the menu with Eggbeaters. Fruit in season is usually my accompanying carbohydrate. For other meals I focus on the meat first, cutting it to fit what I have now learned to eyeball as the size of portion I can have. The rest gets pushed out of the way. No guessing after you have already finished half of what was on the plate! I try to select my carbohydrates carefully. I have given up bread, rice and potatoes as just not being worth it. I haven't missed them, but people have to select their own path.
As for snacks, I have learned to improvise. Nachos are handled by stacking meat, cheese and guacamole up on a single tortilla chip. (Then it's Fajitas if I am eating Mexican). When at home, peanut butter on an apple or crackers works with tuna or chicken from a can. Or for a real treat, I eat REAL whipped cream on fresh blueberries on the side with chicken. I do try to eat foods in the GOOD categories most of the time.
For lunches at work, I buy jumbo packs of chicken breasts and trim to 3 oz. portions. I grill all of them at once, but using different flavors on each.
I started working out to increase my block allocation, but now I exercise to satisfy the extra energy. Sometimes if I really start Zoning on the treadmill, I just keep going until I get tired. I have also added weight training and cycling to firm up as the weight comes off. My house is cleaner, too. I find myself scrubbing floors at 10:00 PM at night just because I have to DO SOMETHING.
For those of you who may be spiritually experimental, I have something else to share with you. As a result of reading
You will begin to feel like there are no limits to what you can accomplish. Good luck!
